"Multi-sensory environments adaptation for the relaxation of children with neuro-developmental disorders”
Adaptation of the Chrome extension developed as my master thesis.
The web application creates algorithmic music in real-time using the Web Audio API and adapts it to the relaxation level of a child (here simulated by a random values generator, originally measured using a brainwave headset).
Philips Hue lights were used to create an immersive experience and they are represented in this demo by four circles. Concepts of synesthesia were used to find a correlation between the behaviors of sound and color.
Three adaptation settings determine three different therapy goals and they can be recalled by preset buttons. Other adaptation settings can be manually selected in this first prototype that is meant to be used to find the best settings during a testing phase in collaboration with therapists.
The application is part of an ongoing project of the Polytechnic University of Milan and will be extended and tested by researchers and therapists.
